I didn’t know
what I was doing
when I climbed
so high,
breaking twigs
on my way up
and limbs
(as well as my own)
as I tried
to catch
my fall
on the way down.The least I could
have done was
to lay there
and rot
to feed her
my sin;
to let her
soak up my

through her roots.
